I was talking to a friend recently and mentioned how strange it’s been trying to keep up the momentum of running a travel blog when the travel industry seems to have shriveled up and died. She suggested I go off kilter slightly and do a travel Q&A, so as someone who isn’t massively into travel but has kindly read this blog and always lets me know when she uses an affiliate link she sent me a few questions.
A Travel Q&A
How many countries have you visited?
I’ve not written about them all as some trips were taken before I started the blog, but I have visited twelve countries so far (you can read about most of them here.)
What has been your favourite travel destination so far?
As a country, Japan was utterly incredible. It has everything from crazy, bustling cities to stunning landscapes and the food is unbelievable. I would return in a heartbeat to explore and discover more about the culture and eat even more ramen.
For a more specific city then Budapest definitely left and impression on me. I would love to revisit there one day.
What destination is at the top of your bucket list?
I’m desperate to explore more of Europe. At the moment I’ve got my sights on a Wintery tour of the Baltic states, especially if I can visit some Christmas markets.
Otherwise I would love to visit the West coast of Canada and then take a train journey along the Canadian Rockies.
Three things you cannot travel without?
Camera. I don’t feel as though I’ve travelled if I don’t return with at least a few hundred photos.
Travel Sickness bands. I don’t know if they genuinely work, but I can’t go anywhere without them.
Notebook and Pen. Whether it’s to note down an address, ideas for a blog post or a reminder to myself for later, I rarely go anywhere without a notebook and pen in my bag.
What home comfort do you miss the most?
My cat and my bed. I rarely have trouble sleeping when I’m away but there’s something extremely comforting about sleeping in your own bed.
What has been your scariest travel moment?
I’ve been quite lucky, in that I haven’t had any major incidents during any of my trips.
What’s the longest you’ve been away from home?
My trip to Japan was roughly two weeks, that’s the longest I’ve been away from home.
Where would you most like to live in the world?
I came home from my trip to Budapest thinking that if I had to pick somewhere in Europe to live then that would be it.
Otherwise, New Zealand would be the next choice.
Where is your least favourite destination?
Copenhagen. There wasn’t anything particularly bad about it as a city, but it just didn’t excite me and it’s really expensive.
Window seat or aisle seat?
Window. Always.
Apart from travel, what else make you happy?
My cat.
A good book.
Enjoying a nice chat with friends over a cup of coffee.
