Travel is one of life’s pleasures: exploring unfamiliar locations, discovering new cultures and relaxing whilst being inspired and having our senses heightened. However, it is a well known fact that flying can wreak havoc on your skin, hair and general well-being which is why a well planned inflight skincare routine can be the perfect solution.

Being enclosed in an airless cabin for hours is one of the most challenging environments for the skin – dry recycled air and cold air-conditioning is incredibly dehydrating, plus there’s the jetlag, which disrupts the body’s natural rhythm.

Creating the Ultimate Inflight Skincare Routine

Prep the Skin Before You’re Even on the Plane

This is where you need to be organised. Before you leave the house after using your usual facial wash or cleanser, give your entire face a wipe with some Cleansing Micellar Water, then apply a layer of Facial Oil. Repeat these two steps once you arrive at the airport. As you should have arrived at the airport with plenty of time to spare you should have enough time to pop to the toilets to freshen up before you check in or drop off your luggage.

Once You’re On the Plane…

Now that you’re on the plane, settle into your seat and continue with your inflight skincare routine: I like to apply a layer of a Hydrating Face Mask, followed by an Energy Boosting Moisturiser, depending on the length of your flight will depend on how often you’ll need to repeat this. I would probably recommend every four hours.

Don’t forget a good lip balm to stop them drying out too much and becoming sore.

Quick Tips For a Relaxing Flight

  • Create your perfect inflight skincare routine (avoid overly scented products so you don’t irritate your fellow passengers)
  • Avoid wearing makeup
  • Drink plenty of water
  • Pack a comfy travel pillow and blanket scarf

What does your inflight skincare routine look like?

  1. I need to try this. Most of my flights are somewhat short though, but I still end up breaking out somehow.

I’m the same. Most of my flight are quite short but my skin still always feels tired and dry if I don’t give it some care.

  2. Definitely keeping this in mind as I’m going to be going to Europe in less than a week!
