As I’ve said in previous posts, I love finding accommodation that is unusual and quirky, but ideally full of history and character, and what can be more historical and characterful than a castle. There are around 1500 castles in England alone but this post focuses on the ones that you can actually stay in, hopefully helping you find the perfect place for your next trip in the UK.

This is very useful!! Also because I love castles! Saving it for later!
Thank you. Who wouldn’t to experience what it’s like to sleep in such an historic building.
My girls would FLIP if we stayed in a real live castle! Pinning this for later – can’t wait!
Ha! Amazing! Some of them are really affordable so would make a lovely weekend trip for any family.
Oh I would LOVE to stay in a castle! How fun!
I know. I’m definitely planning a little weekend break somewhere.
This is so damn cool! I would love to actually stay in a castle!
Staying in a castle is totally dreamy. I know it’s not massively feminist but I’m pretty sure most women would love to stay in one at some point and pretend to be a princess.
What a wonderful post of all the castles to stay in! All of them look absolutely beautiful but I think Lumley and Thornbury castles are ones I would want to stay in first. I never knew there were so many castles that one could stay in. Great post! 🙂
Nor did I until I started looking and listing them. So many lovely ones. Definitely makes me want to take more UK based trips next year.
