I’ve never been one for going back and reviewing the month as the year passes, but I’ve decided to attempt it for 2020, to look back at the positive and negative aspects and take stock.

February may be the shortest month of the year but it doesn’t mean it’s the easiest to get through. Christmas feels like an eternity ago, the weather’s miserable and you’re surrounded by Valentine yuck.

February: Reviewing the Month

I always seem to end up in a bit of a funk in February and this year was no different.

I finally got rid of the cold and chest infection that grabbed me throughout January but then a flood of creativity and motivation took hold and I was on a roll with writing blog posts and thinking about how I wanted the next couple of months to look.

Of course the problem with February is that we are still in the full force of Winter, incessant rain, bitterly cold mornings and with storms Ciara and Dennis blighting the country we all seemed to fall into a bit of gloom and dreariness.

What’s the best thing about February? Pancakes, obviously. I hope you managed to treat yourself. Whether it was delicious American-style ones with bacon and maple syrup for breakfast, or lovely savoury-filled ones for dinner.

However despite staying at home for two months, with no day trips, no planning of trips and just concentrating on slowing down and saving money and energy, it has actually given me the opportunity to think about how I want to travel this year. I’ve previously mentioned that my focus for 2020 is on the UK and shorter breaks, something I look forward to doing in March.

Another great things about the month just gone is that I finally picked up a book and read it. I mentioned how reading had failed me in January, but my need to let my mind wander was fulfilled in February. Long may it continue.

How was February for you?
