With everything from coffee shops to garden centres, restaurants to bookshops, pubs to hairdressers closed it is impossible to imagine what our high streets and local economy will look like in a few months time. This is why it is so important to support local businesses during lockdown and find different ways of keeping in touch with them.
How to Support Local Businesses During Lockdown
Follow Them on Social Media
Head to Twitter and Instagram and follow your favourite local businesses, like their content, send them messages and make it clear that you’ll be there once their doors are open again.
Check Out Their Websites
For anyone with an online presence the one way of knowing that people are interested in their work, products and keeping updated is to see that people are still visiting the website. You could even send them a quick email saying thank you for their previous service and wishing them well for the current situation.
Make an Online Purchase
Depending on the business they might still be selling their services or products online. If it’s possible then make a purchase and get it delivered.
Shop Directly With Suppliers
If you’re someone who usually shops at a farmer’s market or butcher/baker/fishmonger/grocer etc. only to find that they’ve been forced to close then why not try to find out if you can order directly with their suppliers.
Make a Donation
There are businesses all across the country that reply on public donations (theatres for example) so you could always go online and see if they have a donation page.
How are you supporting local businesses at the moment?
