As a part time traveller it can be hard to fit in even the briefest trips to Europe, especially when you factor in travel time, but also because there are a lot of truly fantastic places to see in the UK and not only that but I happen to live in one of the most visited cities in the country. Here are some fantastic Instagram accounts that will make you want to visit Oxford
Oxford is a really easy city to visit by train with a large and centrally located train station with arrivals from both London and the North. There is also a brilliant coach service direct from London with runs frequently throughout the day and night.
Oxford is a destination known around the world for its amazing architecture and prestigious university. There are so many highlights, but I would recommend you check Queen’s College, The Bridge Of Sighs and the Radcliffe Camera.
There’s a wide range of things to do in Oxford, including discovering the history and heritage of a city that is home to over one thousand listed buildings. It’s no wonder Oxford is a firm favourite of filmmakers, artists and writers from all over the world.
Oxford is a compact city with many of its major attractions located right in the centre, making it really easy to explore on foot. Just outside of the centre are large green spaces like Christ Church Meadows, University Parks and Port Meadow.
Whatever you’re reason for visiting Oxford (romantic getaway, cultured city break, family holiday or quick day trip) it is a city with plenty to offer. Take a tour with Oxford Walking Tour and discover some of the hidden secrets.
Oxford is definitely one of those places that you really should visit at least once. It’s an ideal destination for a weekend break and then keep coming back for more, experiencing a different side to the city each time.
If you’re planning on visiting the city don’t forget to check out my posts on where to stay in Oxford and where to have breakfast.Â
I don’t know about you and the city you live in, but sometimes when you’ve lived somewhere for a long period of time you can lose the enthusiasm that visitors clearly experience. I’ve found that every now and then all it takes is to read a blog post or scroll through Instagram for some inspiration.
