Standing guard over St. Peter Port, Castle Cornet provides a spectacular backdrop and is the perfect spot to admire the marina. Once cut off by the tide, the 800 year old castle consists of five museums and four period gardens. The daily attractions include a guided tour and the firing of the noon-day gun by scarlet clad gunners.
Just a short walk from the town centre, the Castle not only offers a fascinating insight into hundreds of years of island history – but spectacular panoramic views back towards St. Peter Port and out across the other islands of the bailiwick.
For those who enjoy a little retail therapy, St. Peter Port’s winding alleys are home to a variety of independent boutiques and jewellery shops, interspersed between well-know high street. Make sure to stroll through the Old Quarter where you will find an eclectic mix of antique shops and locally made craft shops.
With its cobbled streets, picturesque marina and historic gardens, it is easy to see why St. Peter Port is considered one of Europe’s prettiest harbour town.
