Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year. Apparently. Every year I start December feeling full of excitement, yet by Christmas I’m usually exhausted, ill, and mildly deflated. This year, hopefully, will be different as I’ve taken everything I’ve learned from previous years and put together a plan for surviving the festive period.
A Last Minute Plan for Surviving the Festive Period
This time of year tends to wreak havoc with my sleeping patterns, immune system and energy levels. This year I’m making the commitment to go to the gym regularly, work on my eating habits and go to bed earlier and at the same time every night.
I’ve always been quite organised. Calendars, diaries, notebooks – I keep them all. Appointments, trips, bookings, and even blog post planning, they all get noted down and scheduled in some form, plus at this time of year there’s the additional parties and social gatherings. Of course, being an introvert there are some social interactions that I find exhausting, so just every now and then I love it if a plan gets cancelled.
We’re all guilty of spending too much time on our phones. I like to think that I have a healthy relationship with my phone but I’ve still decided that over the festive period I’m going to avoid using my phone past 9pm and at all on Sundays.  Â
I haven’t sat down and read a good book for ages. I’ve picked my way through about a dozen over the last few months but I’ve got 5 set aside that I want to read before the end of the year.
