The Little Mermaid

Whatever else you do in Copenhagen a visit to this iconic statue is compulsory. She is small and underwhelming and you will have to battle the throngs of tourists to get a decent photo but the walk along the harbour is still a lovely way to spend a couple of hours.

The Little Mermaid statue in Copenhagen, unveiled in 1913 and sculpted by Edvard Eriksen, sits at Langelinie Promenade. Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale, the bronze statue depicts a mermaid gazing longingly toward the shore.
