Visit Castle Cornet

This 800 year old castle standing at the mouth of the harbour. Explore five museums and four period gardens, enjoy the daily attractions which include a guided tour at 10.30am and the firing of the noon-day gun. The Castle is bigger than you might think so to make the most of your trip, allow at least three hours.

Just a short walk from the town centre, the Castle not only offers a fascinating insight into hundreds of years of island history, but also spectacular panoramic views back towards St Peter Port and out across our sister islands.

Visit Sausmarez Manor

Sausmarez Manor the Island’s only Stately Home opens for visiting during the Summer season. It is a time capsule containing architecture, artefacts and art relating to members of the family who have lived there for over 800 years.

Stroll Along Cobo Bay

Cobo Bay is one of Guernsey’s treasures, not only does it possess beautiful white sands and crystal clear waters, but also a handful of amenities just across the road.

The bay is easily accessible by a couple of stairways leading down to the beach dotted along the sea wall, making it a great place to take a dip in the inviting waters, or if you’re there at the right time, go and explore the rock pools that are unveiled at low tide.

 

Walk the Coastal Path

Guernsey has over 42 miles of coastal paths to be enjoyed all supporting a rich array of flora and fauna which are rare or  in the United Kingdom.

You will also be able to find a certain amount of bird species found around the cliffs – including the cormorant, peregrine falcon and long-eared owls among many more which nest in the sheltered valleys.

Visit Rousse Tower

This fully restored and accessible tower was originally built in the 19th century to defend the island against the threat of a French invasion. It has since been wonderfully maintained and is complete with replica cannons, making it a great place to stop off along your walk around Rousse headland.

See The Little Chapel

The Little Chapel was a work of art and labour of love built by Brother Déodat, who started work in March 1914. His plan was to create a miniature version of the famous basilica at Lourdes in France.

There is no charge to enter the Chapel as it relies totally on public donations. The Little Chapel is a must visit during your trip to Guernsey, and delightfully Instagrammable.

Walk Through Bluebell Woods

Located at the southern end of St Peter Port, within walking distance of the town centre, you’ll find Bluebell Woods. In springtime the woodland floor becomes a carpet of blue flowers – a wonderful place to walk at any time of year with trails leading onto the cliff paths and wonderful views from the south-east of the island.

Start your route from the bottom of the steps alongside Guernsey Aquarium in St Peter Port and aim for Fermain Bay, which will take you via the stunning woods. Be sure to bring your camera to capture the unforgettable sight of the bluebells in bloom!

 

Visit Herm Island

What better way to while away a few summer hours than relaxing on pristine beaches, enjoying the peace and quiet, and admiring the stunning views. Why not end the day with a drink and bite to eat in the island’s traditional pub – one of a handful of picturesque buildings near the harbour that also includes shops, a hotel and restaurant.

Travelling to Herm couldn’t be easier. Simply hop on a Travel Trident ferry which runs hourly throughout the summer season and 20 mins later you’ll be on a paradise island. A return ticket is £13.50.

Take a Guided Walking Tour

Let a local guide reveal the secrets that make Guernsey special. Guides are available throughout the year for a variety of walks covering many topics, as well as tailormade walks on an ‘on demand’ basis.

Visit the German Occupation Museum

Located within walking distance of Guernsey Airport, the German Occupation Museum provides a unique insight into life in Guernsey during the occupation from 1940 to 1945. The museum is complete with an authentic recreation of an occupation-era street, exhibitions on maritime history, and Second World War fortifications.

Explore the Streets of St. Peter Port

With its cobbled streets and picturesque seafront marina and historic gardens, it is easy to see why St Peter Port is considered one of Europe’s prettiest harbour towns.

Take a RIB Voyage

Enjoy the adrenaline rush as you blast across the sea just inches above the water on an exciting boat trip.  Visit rocks, bays, caves and islands and see the local wildlife on the way – seabirds, seals, puffins and even the occasional dolphin.

Visit Hauteville House

For fourteen years, Hauteville House was home to the famous French writer Victor Hugo, during his time in exile from France. Hugo spent his time there writing his masterpieces, as well as personally decorating the house.

Hauteville House is Closed to the public for 2018 whilst a major restoration project is undertaken. It will re-open to the public in 2019.

Take a Gin and Dine Experience at Bella Luce

Pay a visit on a Wednesday or Friday for a half hour Gintroduction experience in the Bella  Luce small batch distillery with a three-course dinner in their award-winning restaurant.
